It’s 2017 already

Dudley Writers’ next publishing project is a book of feature articles on Kangaroo Island places and people, called The Some of Us.

Already members have produced fine ideas and good writing on their chosen topic or topics. The collection promises to reveal a cross-section of island life to the world.

The deadline for submissions is in May with publication before the end of the year.

Plans for 2016

The last two meetings of Dudley Writers have confirmed our next major writing project – a book of feature articles on Kangaroo Island.

Already we have an array of ideas and starting synopses. Here’s a sample: Schools of the Dudley Peninsula; Nepean Bay; the three cottages Faith, Hope and Charity; shipwrecks; and ferries.

Our next meeting is on Sunday 17 April at 2pm when we’ll hear progress reports. Please join us if you can.

Launch party

Dudley Writers’ Group hosted a very successful launch of Digging deeper on the first Sunday of 2016 in Mrs Vallentine’s Cottage. About 60 people squeezed into the small space to hear Laura Kroetsch, Director of Adelaide Writers’ Week speak beautifully about the value of such short story collections to the Australian story, with its ‘sinister’ overtones. Here are some photos from the party.
